After four people recommended Calo Ristorante to us for a birthday celebration, we tried out this 62-year-strong neighborhood staple. We were told to sit at the bar and so did so dutifully and joyfully. Bartender Liz, who said she'd worked there 22 years, took good care of us. We will go back.

Somehow I thought this was just a pizzeria. NO! It is fine dining in the neighborhood! Who knew!!! Authentic Italian cooking, like you might find it Italy! I had the grilled baby calamari on cannelloni beans was *rapini*! Amazing! My friend had pasta with shrimp... maybe Alfredo sauce. Great! The focaccio bread was great!

Best Alfredo sauce that I've ever had, next time I'll ask if the chicken can be blackened for seasoning preference but definitely deserves a chef's kiss The atmosphere clean, cozy, relaxed and inviting, the espresso martinis were on point. Would definitely spin the block again.

Another fantastic dinner with their carry out service. We had our usuals and sausage pan pizza (not pictured). Every dish was delicious. Calo has become one of my family's go to when we don't feel like cooking. Parking is available right in front of the restaurant for pick up orders and a sizable parking lot across the street for dine-ins. I will continue to support them wherever I can.

Food: 9/10 The gnocchi was so soft and cheesy. The vodka sauce as savory as always. I just wish there was more in the bowl! The tiramisu was soft, and had the right amount of coffee, mocha, and vodka flavor! Service: 9/10 Came here for a birthday party, so we were a big group of 10, so service was a bit slower. Food took about 20-30 minutes to arrive. Staff was very nice and was accommodating to our big and loud group. Ambiance: 8/10 It's cute and has an old diner feel.

When I came in I was ravenous for food, but I left soo full. The dishes we got were huge portions which was fabulous for making it worth two meals. They really did not skimp on the toppings, including in the seafood dishes. So many places go light, but Calo definitely made it worth the money. My only thing is I kept getting some crunchy texture which led me to think there may have been some shells in my dish. Overall, the chicken sausage pasta was my favorite. I'll definitely be coming back to try other meals. Also the tiramisu is a canNOT miss! Melts in your mouth.

This Andersonville staple is huge! If you go in the summer, bring a sweater because their AC is blasting. We had a large party (we had a reservation) and they did a great job servicing such a large group. They were even able to split up the check (we asked before ordering) which was super helpful! They have a huge menu with a range of veggie options to choose from. Most of the dishes seem to have meat or fish, but there are a few pasta dishes and pizza without either. The menu is huuuuge (like actually physically so big it was hard to make room for them at the table, but also very extensive menu options). They give you free bread and pizza bread (foccacia) before dinner. The foccacia was so addicting! Warm and fresh out of the oven with soft butter on the side - it was hard to not fill up before my meal. I ordered the gorgonzola gnocchi and it was even better than I expected. I loved the creamy sauce, and the gnocchi was stuffed with cheese! YUM!
